Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) vide its order dated 5th March 2012 debarred M/s. IMI, Israel for further business dealings for a period of ten years. Consequent to OFB`s order, the Ministry of Defence vide its letter dated 11.04.2012 extended the order of debarment to all the wings of the Ministry of Defence. Following projects have been affected on account of debarment of M/s IMI, Israel.
(i) Bi Modular Charge System (BMCS) Plant for Ordnance Factory Nalanda of Ordnance Factory Board (OFB).
(ii) Contract for `Consultancy for MBT Arjun Mk II improvement` of DRDO.
In March 2009, OFB had concluded a contract with M/s. IMI Israel for main BMCS Plant which was cancelled, in March 2012, as the firm got debarred.
Consequent upon cancellation of contract with M/s IMI, Israel for supply of BMCS Plant OFB has planned to create complete manufacturing facilities at Ordnance Factory Nalanda for BMCS by procurement / fabrication of main BMCS Plant indigenously. The Expression of Interest (EOI) for supply of plants has been issued to Indian Industry.
This information was given by Minister of State for Defence Shri Jitendra Singh in a written reply to Shri Sushil Kumar Singh in Lok Sabha today.
