Government files class action suit against Nestle India

The Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has filed a complaint under section 12(1)(d) of the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 in the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC). The Department has filed this class action suit on behalf of the large number of consumers of Maggi in the country against Nestle India on grounds of unfair trade practices, sale of defective goods and sale of Maggi Oats Noodles to the public without product approval.

Foreign Tourist Arrivals(FTAs) register a growth of 11.3 % in July 2015 over July 2014

Ministry of Tourism compiles monthly estimates of Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) on the basis of Nationality-wise, Port-wise data received from Bureau of Immigration (BOI) and Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) from tourism on the basis of data available from Reserve Bank of India. Cargo Centres in Railways

Under a pilot project called “Kisan Vision Project”, Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR), Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) and Central Railside Warehouse Company Limited (CRWC) were asked to provide infrastructure to encourage development of facilities for setting up cold storages and temperature-controlled perishable cargo centers as well as developing agri-retail outlets through public private partnership (PPP) mode at six locations on Indian Railways.

Railways Interactive Voice Response System

A Passenger Feedback System through Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) has been started by Indian Railways through Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) with effect from 01.07.2015 on all Mail/Express and Superfast trains over Indian Railways’ system.


Railway Freight Corridors Project

Two Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFC) projects on the Western and Eastern routes have been sanctioned and are under implementation at a cost of Rs.81,459 crore (excluding cost of Sonnagar-Dankuni Section of Eastern DFC).
