Preliminery Report of 12556 Dn Gorakhdham Express Accident at Chureb Station in U.P. on 25.5.2014


Shri Prabhat Kumar Bajpai, Commissioner of Railway Safety, Ministry of Civil Aviation, North Eastern Circle, Lucknow held a statutory inquiry into the derailment of 12556 Dn Gorakhdham Express at Chureb station on Gonda-Gorakhpur Non-Electrified section of Lucknow Division of North Eastern Railway on 25.05.2014 at about 1034 hrs. As a result of the accident, 29 passenger lost their life, 16 passengers suffered grievous injury and 55 passengers sustained simple injury.

According to the provisional findings of the Commissioner of Railway Safety, appended with his preliminary report, accident occurred due to “Failure of Equipment – Permanent Way”. These findings are under the consideration of the Government.
