Land Scam in Srinagar Airport

As per records of Defence Estates Office, Srinagar, some No Objection Certificates (NOC) were issued in respect of land under occupation of Defence. After conducting preliminary enquiry in the matter, it was found that prima-facie there have been irregularities in the issue of NOCs. As per investigations of CBI a total of 62.25 acres land is involved. As per records there are 2678.281 acres of Defence Land at Srinagar Airport. 

To get the matter thoroughly investigated and fix responsibility, the Government have entrusted the enquiry to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). CBI instituted a Preliminary Enquiry in the matter on 21.11.2011. Subsequently, CBI has registered a regular case vide RC AC-1 2012 A 0006 dated 03.05.2012 against Shri Ajay Kumar Chaudhary, the then Defence Estates Officer (DEO) Srinagar, Shri Vijay Kumar, the then Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Grade-I, Srinagar, Smt. Amarjeet Kaur, the then Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Grade-ll, Srinagar and some unknown public servants / private persons. 

Shri Ajay Kumar Chaudhary, the then DEO Srinagar Circle and Shri Vijay Kumar, the then SDO-1, Srinagar Circle have been placed under suspension. 

This information was given by Defence Minister Shri AK Antony in a written reply to Shri Somen Mitra in Lok Sabha today.
